History faculty are participating in the Tuning Project through the American Historical Association. The Tuning Project is a global initiative encompassing multiple disciplines, but for our purposes the goal is to define the core attributes of the history discipline and what a person who studies history should know and should be able to do. What follows from that is a discussion of the best way to teach history.
